The Consumer Sentiment Index and Consumer Expectations Index have moved up by 0.36 % and 1.14%, respectively, since the government demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes on November 8. However, the Current Economic Conditions Index fell by 0.91% over the same period.
Consumers are looking optimistically at their financial well-being in future, according to a survey conducted by BSE, Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) and Survey Research Centre, University of Michigan. However, consumers’ perception on the current economic conditions has not improved since November 8.
The survey covered 1,58,624 households spread across rural and urban areas.
