CoinSwitch Ventures, the investment arm of crypto platform CoinSwitch, has rebranded as BlackLane Capital, an independent global early-stage investment firm, and has expanded its mandate beyond Web3 to include fintech, enterprise infrastructure, consumer applications and digital assets.

The firm plans to make investments of up to $5 million (around Rs 48 crore) and aims to enable more than $100 million in startup funding over the next five years through its investments and network of founders, investors and strategic partners.

Established in 2022, CoinSwitch Ventures initially focussed on Web3, blockchain and token projects. It has backed more than 26 startups to date, including Stan, Deconflict, Yousend and Uniblock.

BlackLane Capital will focus on early-stage companies addressing large markets and with the potential to scale across geographies. It will also draw on the wider PeepalCo ecosystem to provide portfolio companies with operating expertise, industry connections and investor networks, alongside support for product strategy, partnerships and subsequent fundraising. PeepalCo is an umbrella brand that was launched in 2023 to house CoinSwitch's businesses.

“BlackLane Capital gives us the scope to invest across that opportunity while building on the relationships and experience we have developed over the years,” CoinSwitch co-founder Ashish Singhal said.

Pratyush Shah, investment head at BlackLane Capital, said the firm was seeing more companies targeting global markets from inception, particularly as artificial intelligence lowers the barriers to building and scaling technology businesses across borders.

The rebranding comes as CoinSwitch reported profitability on an adjusted Ebitda level in the financial year through March 2026, with revenue more than doubling year-on-year.

Founded in 2017 by Singhal, Vimal Sagar Tiwari and Govind Soni, CoinSwitch serves more than 2 crore users in India and offers access to over 450 cryptocurrencies. Its investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Tiger Global, Ribbit Capital, Peak XV Partners and Paradigm.
