Mumbai-based drugmaker Cipla Ltd said on Wednesday it has appointed Kedar Upadhye, a top executive from Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd, as its global chief financial officer.
Upadhye will take charge on or before 16 August 2016, Cipla said in a filing to the stock exchanges.
At Dr Reddy's, Upadhye was vice president of global generics finance and head of investor relations. He has earlier worked with PepsiCo India and Thermax Group.
In September 2015, Cipla had hired another top executiveâUmang Vohraâfrom Dr Reddy's as global chief financial and strategy officer.
Vohra will now cease to be global chief financial officer, an additional role he was handling as he is also the companyâs global chief operating officer.
Vohra was elevated as global chief operating officer in January when Cipla created a six-member apex executive leadership Management Council while expanding the role of promoter group scion Samina Vaziralli.
Both Samina and Vohra are part of the Management Council, which is headed by Subhanu Saxena, managing director and global CEO. Others in the council include Geena Malhotra, global head of integrated product development; Ranjana Pathak, global head of quality; and Prabir Jha, global chief people officer.
Cipla has presence across 150 countries and its portfolio includes about 1,500 products across therapeutic categories.
