CA Media Digital (India) Pvt Ltd, the digital business of CA Media LP, has appointed Vivek Jain as its chief executive officer.
Jain was previously vice president of digital media products at Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, billionaire Mukesh Ambaniâs yet-to-be-launched telecommunications venture.
CA Media LP is owned by American media holding company The Chernin Group, private equity firm KKR and other investors.
Last November, KKR formed an investment platform along with The Chernin Group to invest in Asian media and entertainment ventures. Christened Emerald Media, it will focus on providing growth capital ranging from $15 million to $75 million (Rs 100-500 crore) for both control and significant minority positions. The move seems to indicate that CA Media is no longer looking at fresh investments and would instead build its existing business.
Jain said he will focus on building CA Media's existing digital assets such as Fluence and Wakau and also expand the digital portfolio. âWith Fluence and Wakau we have caught the attention of celebrities, brands, and audiences alike by creating innovative products and digital platforms,â he said.
Fluence is a digital influencer network with exclusive digital rights of about 30 Indian celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Ranveer Singh. Wakau is a celebrity video blogging app.
Jain returned to India to work at Reliance Jio from the US where he spent 12 years. He has also worked at Amazon, Google and Motorola. He has an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin and a postgraduate degree in electrical and computer engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology.
