Vowelor, a startup that provides a real-time interactive platform for book lovers, has raised Rs 1 crore ($140,000) in a pre-Series A funding round led by angel investor Sanjeev Juneja.
Vowelor Books & Media Pvt. Ltd co-founders Manik Ghawri and Lalit Sharma said the company would use the funding to develop and market an automated tool in the form of a mobile application that will help authors with limited budgets promote their books and engage with readers in India and abroad.
The two said the startup developed the idea while working with authors who said that their biggest obstacles were small budgets and the lack of access to readers willing to engage with them and their work.
Juneja is an entrepreneur in the fast-moving consumer goods sector and is known mainly for selling the Kesh King hair oil brand to Emami Ltd in 2015. He is also behind brands such as Dr. Ortho, Roop Mantra and Pet Saffa.
Juneja called Vowelor a “strongly rooted platform” focussing on solving problems relating to the industry.
Vowelor was founded in November 2018 by Ghawri, Sharma and Himanshu Gandhi. It provides a platform for readers and authors to engage with one another as well as share their experiences on reading, writing and books.
