Retail sector veteran and former chief executive (lifestyle) of Reliance Retail, Bijou Kurien has joined private equity firm L Capital Asia as a member of the strategic advisory board. L Capital is the private equity arm of French luxury giant LVMH Moet Hennessy and chases essentially consumer sector deals in the region including India.
The development was first reported by Business Standard citing Kurien.
We have contacted Bijou Kurien and Sanjay Gujral, regional managing director (Singapore) at L Capital, for more details and will update as soon as we hear from them.
Kurien quit Reliance Retail in October last year after being a part of the company for seven and a half years.
An alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur, Kurien started his career as a management trainee at Hindustan Unilever (earlier HLL). Subsequently, he spent years at watch & jewellery retailer Titan Industries, where he was chief operating officer, before moving to Reliance Retail.
L Capital Asia invests out of two funds across Asia Pacific region. In India, it has invested in companies such as ethnic wear chain Fabindia, multiplex operator PVR and Genesis Luxury.
