Belgium-based Agfa HealthCare has picked up a 27 per cent stake in US health-tech startup My Personal Health Record Express Inc (MphRx) for an undisclosed amount.
The deal is part of efforts to move into the integrated care market, Agfa said in a statement.
"The combined technologies, expertise and people of both companies create a unique and leading integrated care portfolio," said James Jay, global vice president, Agfa HealthCare.
Both companies have created a patient-centric portal for integrated care that can be used by healthcare providers, the company said. Additional functionalities will be added to the portfolio in coming months, it added.
MphRx president and CEO Mahesh Uberoi said its system is deployed across numerous large health systems worldwide "with millions of patient records being aggregated in our platform and expect those numbers to grow significantly with this alliance".
Agfa HealthCare, part of the Agfa-Gevaert Group, provides diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT solutions. It has sales offices and agents in about 100 markets
MphRx is headquartered in New York, with R&D, support and implementation teams based out of New Delhi. It develops products and solutions that are implemented in about 26 locations worldwide.
