CleanseCar Washing and Repair Services Pvt. Ltd, which operates through app in Bengaluru only, has raised $150,000 (Rs 1.08 crore) worth of seed funds from angel investor Dhianu Das, a co-founder told VCCircle.

The startup plans to use the funds to primarily expand operations, said co-founder Kalyandar Vinukonda. The firm will expand to Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad in the coming months.

Das, co-founder of used-car showroom LuxuryRide, has been chief mentor to CleanseCar for the past six months, shows his profile on LinkedIn, a professional networking site.

He is a business mentor to ClearDekho and a board member at GoMechanic.

Vinukonda in a release said, “India is one of the largest automobile markets in the world, yet there is a huge gap in supplementary markets such as car cleaning. Our aim is to bridge this gap using innovation and environmentally-conscious processes at an affordable price.”

Incorporated in January 2018, CleanseCar was founded by Vinukonda and Pratibha Shalini. Its services include wet and dry cloth wash, external water wash and interior vacuum cleaning.

The company claims to have served over 3,000 consumers since it began operations in March.

In the past few months, the broader automobile-servicing space had seen a good number of mergers and acquisitions as well as fundraisings.

In April, car-servicing startup Carcrew Technology Pvt. Ltd, backed by TVS Group, raised $2 million (Rs 13 crore) in a fresh pre-Series A round led by an undisclosed private equity firm.

Last December, Noida-based online automobile services startup GarageOnRoad raised an undisclosed amount in a seed round from Gaurav (Jerry) Gupta, senior vice-president at re-insurance multinational Swiss Re.
