Mahindra group chairman Anand Mahindra has invested an undisclosed amount in SheThePeople.TV, a digital storytelling platform for women founded by journalist Shaili Chopra.

The investment was done in his personal capacity.

The firm will use the capital for expansion as it plans to launch a number of initiatives, including forums, events and content in regional languages, it said in a blog post.

SheThePeople, owned and operated by Digitalist Tech Media Pvt. Ltd, is a digital media initiative dedicated to showcasing success stories of women achievers. The portal has profiled stories of nearly 10,000 women, including entrepreneurs, authors, sportswomen and corporate executives. The stories are currently offered in English and Hindi and driven primarily by video content. It also conducts conferences and other events.

'Women need a space that quenches their intellectual hunger as well as engages and empowers them with relatable content," Mahindra said.

"This is a video story telling space that inspires women, strengthens their efforts, exchanges leadership ideas, fosters networking and reinforces their ability to contribute to growth," said Shaili Chopra.

Chopra had worked with CNBC, NDTV Profit and ETNOW before launching SheThePeople.

Mahindra, 60, has been investing in Indian startups in his personal capacity.

In December last year, he had invested an undisclosed amount in Delhi-based LocalCircles India Pvt. Ltd, which runs a community-based social network LocalCircles.com.
