Prateek Dhawan, Principal in Accel Partnersâ growth equity team in India, is joining Everstone Capital as a senior member of the investment team. Dhawan will be based in Everstoneâs Mumbai office, sources familiar with the development said.
Dhawan joined Accelâs growth investment team from , where he was leading the fundâs private equity investments in India.
At Goldman Sachs Investment Partners, Dhawan was responsible for investments in Tikona Digital Networks, Bharti Infratel and Asian Genco. Interestingly, Everstone is a co-investor with Goldman in Asian Genco and Tikona Digital.
Preceding Goldman, Dhawan worked at Cisco Systemsâ corporate development group. He was responsible for investments and acquisitions in the video and service provider markets, and was involved with the $7 billion acquisition of Scientific Atlanta. Dhawan also led several transactions including Arroyo Video and Widevine, among others. He had also held positions at DLJ Merchant Banking and Centillium Communications.
Dhawan holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and did his B. Tech from IIT Delhi.
Everstone, founded by former Goldman Sachs managing directors Atul Kapur and Sameer Sain, manages in excess of $1.7 billion and has invested more than $1 billion in India over the past six years. It has 120 employees across Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Mauritius and Singapore.
Some of its recent investments include Rs 150 crore in Delhi-based manufacturer of crop protection chemicals Crystal Crop Protection and Rs 60 crore in high-end architectural fittings maker Ozone Overseas.
